Consultation

Embodied mental health

If you've been living with anxiety, depression, insomnia or symptoms that won't ease, and what you've tried hasn't been enough, we can look at the whole picture here.

What I treat

  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression, including when other treatments haven't worked
  • Insomnia and exhaustion with no clear cause
  • Times of change: who you are, where you come from, where you're going
What happened can't be changed. What we can work with is what stayed in your body.

Two people can live through the same thing and come out different. When something stays unresolved, the nervous system stays on guard: you sleep badly, you startle, you're irritable, you avoid places or situations. Understanding it helps, but the body keeps watch. That's why the work involves the body too.

How I work

Mental health is usually treated in pieces. Some talk about your history, others adjust a medication, few know about supplements and almost nobody asks how you sleep, what you eat or how many coffees you drink a day. I work with all of it at once.

The body
Working with what you feel as well as what you think.
Your history
Where you learned to live the way you live.
Your habits
Sleep, food, movement and screens.
Your biochemistry
Checking for deficiencies, recommending supplements when they're needed and, if you take medication, adjusting it.
Practices
Breathing and meditation, when they help you.

One treatment can include an antidepressant and, beside it, sleeping better, supplements or an afternoon walk.

Where we're heading

We work towards a nervous system that can switch on when it's needed and settle again afterwards. With that, little by little, there's room to enjoy things again.
